Background

Since 1936, Spaenaur has been a leading distributor of industrial fasteners, hardware components, and tools in North America. They offer 60,000+ products to businesses in diverse industries, but needed an eCommerce site that could deliver the modern shopping experience customers expect.

They asked DotcomWeavers to elevate their Adobe Commerce storefront by integrating the Epicor Eclipse ERP and Akeneo PIM. Our enhancements enabled seamless product data and catalog synchronization, real-time pricing updates for customers, and custom parts referencing.

Challenge

Though there was no standard connector between Epicor and Adobe Commerce, we were thrilled to help Spaenaur tackle a long-neglected list of technical enhancements, including:

  • Limiting platform access to onboarded B2B customers with valid ERP credentials
  • Ensuring eCommerce customers receive accurate pricing pushed from Epicor Eclipse
  • Enabling customers to use custom product identifiers to reference part numbers
  • Real-time inventory checks to prevent orders on out-of-stock items

Solution

We leveraged Epicor Eclipse’s powerful APIs to build a custom connection between their eCommerce website and ERP system that facilitated seamless data exchange. This enabled:

  • Simplified user authentication via single sign-on (SSO) for customers through the ERP
  • Accurate, real-time pricing and inventory data pulled directly from Epicor
  • Enhanced product search that could retrieve customer-specific part data from Epicor

Results

Spaenaur saw increased online sales within the first quarter after their transition from a catalog website to a cutting-edge eCommerce platform. Their leadership also quickly noticed improved operational efficiency in the form of reduced manual entry errors, faster order processing times, and fewer customer complaints about incorrect orders.
